Integrated Multi-Sectoral Response for IDPs in South Wollo Zone
EDA, in partnership with Self Help Africa (SHA) and Community to Community (C2C), is implementing a six-month Integrated Multi-Sectoral Response targeting internally displaced persons (IDPs) at Jari 1 and 2 sites in South Wollo Zone. The project provides life-saving support in Emergency Shelter and Non-Food Items (ES/NFI), WASH, Health, and Nutrition services, along with strengthened camp management and protection-focused interventions. Gender equality, protection, and disability inclusion are mainstreamed across all activities to restore dignity, reduce morbidity, and strengthen community resilience.
Major activities include IDP headcounts; inclusive camp management structures; mobile health and nutrition services; malnutrition screening and treatment; vaccination and public health surveillance; distribution of emergency shelter and non-food items; rehabilitation of water systems; construction of gender-segregated latrines; hygiene promotion; community engagement; and complaint and feedback response systems to ensure coordinated, inclusive, and life-saving services for displaced and vulnerable populations.
The project directly reached 11,046 IDPs (women: 4,251; girls: 2,525; men: 2,492; boys: 1,778) and 19,456 host community members, with 60 persons with disabilities supported across all sectors. In total, 30,502 direct beneficiaries have been served. Sector reach includes 3,234 IDPs through CCCM, 13,598 host community members through health services (69% female), and over 716 households through ES/NFI, WASH, and nutrition support.

Emergency Outreach & Demographics
- Direct Reach: Served a total of 30,502 direct beneficiaries, including 11,046 internally displaced persons (IDPs) and 19,456 host community members.
- IDP Demographics: Assisted 4,251 women, 2,525 girls, 2,492 men, and 1,778 boys within the Jari 1 and 2 IDP sites.
- Inclusive Care: Mainstreamed disability inclusion by providing dedicated support to 60 persons with disabilities across all active sectors.
Sector-Specific Interventions
- Health Services: Reached 13,598 host community members with critical healthcare (69% female) via mobile health and nutrition services, vaccination, and public health surveillance.
- Camp Coordination & Camp Management (CCCM): Covered 3,234 IDPs by establishing inclusive camp management structures, conducting headcounts, and managing complaint and feedback response systems.
- Core Humanitarian Aid: Supported over 716 households through integrated Emergency Shelter and Non-Food Items (ES/NFI) distribution, water system rehabilitation, the construction of gender-segregated latrines, and targeted hygiene promotion.
Social Cohesion & Community Resilience
- Reflect Groups: Established 17 Reflect groups with 395 active members engaging in weekly learning, community dialogue, savings, and income-generating activities.
