Project Details

The Family-Focused HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment Services Project, funded by the U.S. Department of State and implemented in partnership with ADA, supports vulnerable children and families in Debre Berhan, Shewa Robit, and Ataye through integrated, family-centered HIV prevention, testing, treatment, care, and social protection services, reaching 9,093 children and their families. Aligned with the global 95-95-95 targets, the project emphasizes early case identification, rapid linkage to treatment, uninterrupted care, and comprehensive prevention, reinforced by household vulnerability assessments and intensive case management to sustain adherence and viral suppression.

The project also prioritizes adolescent prevention for boys and girls aged 10–14 through structured programs such as CBIM, SINOVUYO, and IMPOWER, while leveraging strong multi-sectoral partnerships and continuous capacity development to ensure coordinated service delivery, systems strengthening, and long-term sustainability.

Key achievements include testing 1,422 high-risk clients for HIV with 59 linked to care; re-engaging 64 clients in ART after treatment interruptions; training 1,823 adolescents in HIV and GBV prevention; providing socioeconomic support to 470 HIV-positive clients; and establishing 10 VSLA groups, enabling 79 members to access ETB 277,337 in loans. Through its holistic, family-centered model, the project has strengthened HIV prevention, treatment adherence, viral suppression, household resilience, and adolescent protection, creating a sustainable platform for long-term HIV epidemic control and improved quality of life for affected communities.
