EDA Luminus Addis Ababa Second Chance Education Program  continues to create meaningful pathways for learners to smoothly transition into formal education through fair, inclusive, and quality assessment systems.

Today, we successfully conducted a placement examination preparation session with representatives from two sub-cities and experts from the Addis Ababa Education Bureau.To ensure fairness, transparency, and objectivity, teachers from formal schools (Grades 1–3) were carefully selected to develop the placement examinations. These teachers are not directly involved in teaching learners in the Second Chance Education and ALP centers, helping to safeguard the integrity of the assessment process.

Before developing the examinations, the teachers visited both Second Chance Education and ALP classrooms. This visit helped them better understand:
• learners’ educational progress
• content covered during instruction
• classroom environment and learning conditions

This valuable exposure ensures that the examinations are relevant, appropriate, and aligned with learners’ real learning experiences.Once finalized, the examinations will be securely printed and distributed to schools and administered by formal school teachers.

This milestone reflects strong collaboration among EDA, Luminus, Addis Ababa Education Bureau, sub-city education offices, and schools—working together to expand access to education and support out-of-school children and youth.
