About Us

Headquartered in Addis Ababa, the Emmanuel Development Association (EDA) has established a strong and growing operational presence across Ethiopia and an emerging international presence. EDA delivers integrated development, humanitarian, and resilience-building programmes in both rural and urban communities, responding to the diverse needs of children, youth, women, displaced populations, and other vulnerable and marginalized groups.

Within Ethiopia, EDA operates across Amhara, Oromia, Afar, Tigray, Sidama, Central Ethiopia, South Ethiopia, South West Ethiopia, and Addis Ababa. Since 2022, EDA has also expanded its international engagement to Afghanistan, where it has established a programme presence covering five districts. Through this expanding geographic footprint, EDA brings its experience in community development and humanitarian response to diverse contexts while adapting its approaches to local priorities and needs.

Through close collaboration with government institutions, local communities, civil society organizations, donors, and international development partners, EDA combines deep community knowledge and locally led approaches with evidence-based programming and international standards. Its programmes span quality education, child protection and safeguarding, livelihoods, youth and women’s empowerment, health, WASH, humanitarian response, food security, resilience, and sustainable community development.

Building on more than two decades of experience in Ethiopia, EDA formally expanded its international engagement in 2022 through its registration as a legally recognized charitable organization with the Ministry of Economy of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. From its programme base in Kabul, EDA works to support vulnerable children, women, and marginalized communities through integrated humanitarian and development interventions tailored to local circumstances.

EDA’s growing national and international presence reflects its commitment to localization, partnership, adaptability, accountability, and sustainable impact. By combining strong local relationships and contextual knowledge with internationally recognized development and humanitarian standards, EDA continues to strengthen its position as a trusted Ethiopian development organization with an emerging international footprint.
